So you can do the work that inspires you. Work that has impact. Work that serves your community.
I am passionate about programs and organizations that address the root causes of inequities in access to food, education, health, economic mobility, civic engagement, and safety at home and in public.

My background in research, program evaluation, sociology, and clear, impactful writing skills are what make my grant proposals get noticed, be persuasive, and impact-focused. I understand social context.
Listening to and learning from you are the core of my approach.

For new, young, and nonprofits with annual budgets under $5M, I can provide insight and guidance to evaluate your readiness and organizational capacity to apply for and implement grant-funded programs. I’ll identify grant opportunities that align with your mission and write proposals with you.

I’ve written successful proposals that have resulted in awards and contracts that range from $3,000 to $40 Million, and include multi-year awards.
My grant writing projects have served children and families, young parents, and older adults, and have supported programs that include resident and community engagement work, fair housing education, workforce development, community advocacy training, and affordable housing development.
"Annette finds just the right balance between telling a compelling story to donors, providing applicable data, and working with program teams to identify measurable goals. She has a terrific ability to interview program staff about their grant objectives and make their vision shine in a way that gets noticed by funders."
Megan Talbert
Former Chief Development Officer
Way Finders, Springfield, MA
Most recently, from 2018 through 2026, I served as Grants Manager for Way Finders in Springfield, Massachusetts. During my tenure, I worked with multiple departments and secured single- and multi-year awards and contracts that ranged in size from $3,000 to $40 Million. I collaborated with leaders and staff across multiple departments to manage all phases of the grant funding process, from initial planning and strategizing through evaluation and reporting. With my support, Way Finders secured funding for affordable housing development, state-funded family shelter and rental assistance programs, financial and digital literacy projects, direct assistance for families in crisis, community engagement and advocacy training programs for older adults and low-income residents, and other services Way Finders provides for western Massachusetts.
What drives me is doing all I can to support the hard work it takes to bring about positive, equitable change—for individuals, communities, and the systems that shape our lives. That means using my skills and expertise in service of making that change possible. I am based in western Massachusetts, and I’m available to work with organizations throughout the United States.
I have a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. When not working, I like reading fiction, watching birds, and seeing family and friends. I love animals and have had cats, dogs, and birds as dear companions my entire life.
